Licensed Electrician's Practice (LEP) Tutoring

Licensed Electrician's Practice (LEP) is one of the 3 Licenced Electrician's Assessment (LEA) exams. Passing this exam is a requirement to being granted an 'A Grade' Electrician's Licence by Energy Safe Victoria (ESV). See our LEA overview page for further details.

The LEP exam is usually completed last, out of the LEA exams. It assesses the candidates practical knowledge in electrotechnology.

TTA offers tutoring for those preparing to sit their SWP, LET, and LEP exams.

Students are taught the knowledge required to pass the LEP. This includes an understanding of testing, MEN systems, visual defects, RCDs, switchboard wiring, and metering. TTA students practice with specially developed learning materials, including practice exams that closely mirror the real exam.

TTA students will also gain practical experience in testing, disconnection and reconnection of electrical equipment. TTA students practice with training equipment that is similar to equipment used in the exam.

Prerequisites

To be eligible to sit any of the SWP, LET, or LEP exams, the following prerequisites must be met:

  • Signed Authorisation form from a Registered Training Organisation; or
  • Electrician's Supervised (ES Class) licence; or
  • 'L' licence (Supervised Workers Licence) from Apprentices who have been signed out of their Apprenticeship; or
  • Electrician's (E Class) licence. This is required for REC Technical Assessment; or
  • Trades Recognition Certificate (for an Electrician) issued by Trades Recognition Australia; or
  • Letter from ESV indicating eligibility to sit for the licensing assessment.

See the ESV website for the most up-to-date list of prerequisites.
